Getting Started in Farmville

If you’re new to Farmville, you might be curious about the best way to start the game. Sometimes it’s fun to just mess around and learn a little bit about the game. There’s a very brief introduction to the mechanics of the game, like how to plow land and plant seeds, as well as how to harvest crops. You also start the game with six plots. Two of them are ready to harvest (eggplant and strawberries) and two are halfway grown. Two plots are plowed and ready for seeds.

You’ll start the game with 200 coins, and the very first thing you should do is harvest the crops that have already grown. Once you do that, you’ll end up with 323 coins and a little bit of Farmville XP towards your next level. There are a lot of opinions about what you should do first, but I think the most important question you should ask yourself is realistically, how often do you think you’ll log into the game? That will help decide your basic strategy and what types of crops you should grow.
The Once a Day Farmer

Most people will probably only commit to logging in once a day in the beginning, and that’s a good plan to see if you really like the game. Once you become addicted, you’ll probably be logging in every hour and employing all kinds of cheats and bots to help with your Farmville addition, but that’s another story. For now, it makes sense to focus on Soybeans as your first crop, since they’re ready to harvest in one day. This way, you can come back to the game at the same time tomorrow to enjoy your progress.

So here’s the basic gameplan for a one-a-day farmer.

1. First, put 300 of those coins to work. You’ll want to plow 11 plots and plant them with soy beans.
2. Use the multi-tool to plow over the two plots you just harvested and add nine more.
3. Use the market tool to purchase soybeans and then plant them in all eleven open plots.
4. By the time you’re done, you’ll have spent 300 of your 323 coins and you’ll have earned level 2. Congratulations!

Here is what your farm should look like if you employ this strategy on your first day.

You’re done for now! You can come back in a few hours if you like to harvest those strawberries that you started the game with, but otherwise, you can just wait until the same time tomorrow to return and harvest your soybeans for a ton of coins and XP. You can repeat this every day if you like, constantly increasing the number of plots you have available. Soon, you’ll have quite a bit of coins and experience saved up.
